Airports and train stations

Once again in LAX terminal 7, on my way to New York City for 4 action-packed days and nights. LAX Terminal 7
JFK AirTrain I arrived at JFK at dawn, and saw a colorful sunrise from the shuttle train from the airport to the subway.

Bands

Setting up for Lou Barlow

I saw lots of shows from the CMJ music marathon.

The first was on Wednesday at the Mercury Lounge.

Thursday night I was at Rothko, and saw Robbers on High Street. Robbers on High Street

Robbers on High Street They weren't my favorite band I saw, but the club had better lighting for taking pictures than most places.

Aesop Rock

The cheerful indie-pop duo was followed by rapper Aesop Rock. Weird.

It only got weirder after that.

Below: The setup for Sunn 0))), the weirdest "band" playing the loudest "music" I've ever heard. Being extremely charitable, they could be described as musically challenging.

Sunn 0))) setup

That's a lot of amps, all turned to 11, for just a few guys.

Even barefoot guys dressed in robes.

They played only one "song," which lasted about 40 minutes. They were indescribable - they had to be experienced to be believed.

The last act of the night was ...And you will know us by the trail of dead. While far more melodic than Sunn 0))), they did manage to destroy a good bit of their equipment. The show, and the night, ended in chaos.

Norfolk and Western

Saturday night, at Maxwell's in Hoboken, was far more subdued.
