26-31 May 2005

I visited Washington state over Memorial Day weekend with Mike.

We hiked on trails still covered with snow (right) and got our socks wet (below). Mike in the forest

This persistent bird was eager for a handout.

It was a perfect day to be at the park.

After we left Rainier we drove east to go to the Sasquatch music festival the next day, at the Gorge Amphitheater in the Columbia River gorge. Click on the picture of the Pixies to go to those pictures.

Poulsbo harbor

We stopped in Poulsbo for lunch, and soaked up some Norwegian culture, including lefse.

The strange fish carving definitely made me want to eat fish at this restaurant!

We drove on to Olympic National Park, below, for more hiking.

This greedy chipmunk was completely unafraid - we were obviously not the first hikers he's come across.

Lower down, the park was more lush, although we didn't make it to the densest rain forest areas.

As first time tourists to Seattle, we were legally obligated to go to Pike Place Market.

Boeing's Museum of Flight had some great planes, including the Concorde, below.

In the background is the rest of the museum, including the "red barn" Boeing started in.
